What is Copal?

Copal is a natural resin derived from trees in the Burseraceae family, such as Protium, Hymenaea, and Bursera. It has been widely used in various cultures as incense for religious rituals, meditation, and space purification.

Types of Copal

  1. White Copal – Most commonly used for purification and meditation.
  2. Yellow Copal – Slightly harder with a richer aroma.
  3. Black Copal – Stickier and denser, with a deeper scent.

Yellow Copal has a warm, uplifting, and slightly citrusy aroma with hints of honey and pine. When burned, it releases a clean, balsamic fragrance with subtle earthy and woody undertones.

Compared to white copal, yellow copal has a richer, deeper scent, making it ideal for meditation, spiritual cleansing, and relaxation.

Some people describe it as a mix between frankincense and pine resin, with a touch of sweetness and warmth. It’s often used in rituals and aromatherapy to promote clarity, grounding, and emotional balance.
